
According to the City of Manitowoc’s Building Inspection report, fewer structures were constructed last year than in 2021, but the cost of those projects was up.
The report shows that 2,979 permits were started, which is down from 2021’s figure of 3,489. That equates to a 14.6% decline.
However, the cost of those projects rose 24.8%. 2021 projects cost over $89.7 million, while last year’s projects were valued at $112 million.
The most expensive ongoing project is the Fed Ex distribution center being built on South 39th Street, which has an estimated value of $32.6 million.
Kaysun also has a 55,000-square-foot expansion valued at $4.5 million, MTM is expanding on Vits Drive valued at $2.2 million, and Kwik Trip is building a fuel canopy on Menasha Avenue valued at $2 million.
