With the state legislature set to return to Madison this week, Senator Andre Jacque is voicing his excitement to get back to work.
While on the WCUB Breakfast Club on Monday, Jacque explained that the Senate is scheduled to be back today (January 17th) and the Assembly is slated to return on Thursday.
As for what the first item on the agenda is, the De Pere Senator said they will be looking at “A bail reform constitutional amendment to allow voters to give judges the ability to set bail based on public safety and other factors rather than whether or not somebody is more or less likely to show up for trial.”
The houses will also gather to hear Governor Tony Evers’ State of the State Address before focusing on the budget, which will roll out in mid-February.
“At that point, things will really begin in earnest in terms of jockeying for changes to that original document that the Governor rolls out,” Sen Jacque explained.
Sen. Jacque and Assemblyman Paul Tittl have already put out six bills for co-sponsorship, including those related to mental health treatment alternatives, tractor lemon laws, and substitute teachers.
