
The Manitowoc Fire Rescue Department was called for service more last month than they were in December 2021.
According to their monthly report for December, the MFRD was called 68 times last month for numerous services including but not limited to fires, EMS situations, and vehicle accidents, which is up from 53 in December of last year.
The most calls were for EMS services, while 13 false alarms were reported.
In total, 25 fires were reported in 2022, 17 in structures, and 8 in vehicles.
125 times EMS crews were called into action, and 44 vehicle accidents required Fire Department personnel.
Also in their report, the Department reported that their budget cost was just shy of $521,000, which is 4.21% of their expected budget cost, and significantly down from 2021.
That year they used just shy of $690,000.
