We could get some more details, and maybe the first vote this week on the plan to move Wisconsin to a flat tax.
Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu unveiled his plan last week.
The Oostburg Senator wants to lower Wisconsin’s personal income tax rate to 3.25 percent by 2026. Wisconsin’s highest tax rate right now goes up to 7.65 percent.
LeMahieu says there is plenty of money in the state budget to make the switch, Wisconsin has a record $6.6 billion surplus.
Assemblyman Paul Tittl of Manitowoc has previously voiced support for the idea.
Governor Tony Evers, however, has already promised a veto.
He says the flat tax will help people who make more money.
