
A Manitowoc man was one of four people honored this week as winners of an Outstanding Fair Person Award at the Wisconsin State Fair Convention.
Named the District 4 Outstanding Fair Person award winner was Dick Pollen of the Manitowoc County Fair.
Pollen is the Vice-Chairman of the County Fair Board and is the Operations Subcommittee Liaison.
He is directly involved with the AG Adventureland Tent with designing the layout of the tent and building feed containers for it.
Dick has also been instrumental in restructuring the parking lot, spent numerous hours working on signage, marking out the parking area and creating a plan for entrance and exit of those areas to ensure it makes sense to their guests.
He also recruits local organizations to assist with parking.
Among his other contributions to the Manitowoc County Fair Pollen is a key player with the release of animals and other exhibits at the close of the fair, he helps set up the dairy cattle show and does daily maintenance of the dairy cattle show ring.
Dick even built flower boxes for the garden display area on the Expo Grounds.
