The Salvation Army of Manitowoc County fell short in this year’s Red Kettle Campaign.
According to Lieutenant Jenny Moffit, the local organization had a goal of $175,000 this holiday season, which is significantly more than last year’s $140,000.
Moffit cited an increase in requests for assistance as a reason for the lofty goal.
The Kettles brought in a total of $124,226.02, which is below their goal, and below last year’s goal.
Moffit noted that the fact that Tom Drill was not out ringing bells this year, and the winter storm just before Christmas played a factor in why collections were down.
It’s not all bad however, as Shoreline Credit Union surpassed its Season Pass Pin Program goal and presented a check for nearly $14,000.
There are other donations that have come in, separate from the kettles that will help as well.
Lt. Moffit said she will inform us as soon as that money has been counted.
