With 2022 well in the rearview mirror, Manitowoc County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer is looking ahead to what 2023 will bring.
One of the major events this year is the purchasing of the former library from Lakeside Foods, which is located right up the road from the courthouse.
“That’s a big building and we need offices,” he bluntly noted. “It will provide long-term office needs for the County.”
Zigelbauer projected that the sale would be finalized in the spring.
He also noted that it will essentially be a turn-key exchange.
“The desks and the offices are going to be ready to move in when we get them,” Ziegelbauer revealed. “That’s another advantage of that property.”
But of course, the biggest project on the calendar for the next few years is the courthouse renovation project.
The County Executive explained that includes the renovation of the dome and the modernization of the HVAC system.
“That will be approximately $25 to $30 million,” he explained. “The County Board is considering to have a special committee to supervise it from start to finish.”
