The Manitowoc United JV Hockey team fell 4-1 to Waupaca last night in front of a nearly packed Manitowoc County Ice Center.
The visitors scored a pair of goals in the first period, and tallied another in the second before Teddy Dhein was able to gather a loose puck in front of the net a pound home United’s only goal of the day.
Waupaca would add another goal in the 3rd to secure the win.
Dhein was assisted on his goal by Peter Cigler and Benson Dickrell, while net-minder Daniel Karlin recorded 27 saves.
The squad showed vast improvements in several aspects of the game, including their aggressiveness toward puck carriers.
This was the fewest number of shots Karlin has seen all season, and most of that comes from the defense’s ability to force players wide and take away cross-ice passes in the d-zone.

The defense also did a great job holding the blue line and forcing tough passes during Waupaca’s breakout.
Manitowoc United will have a day off before traveling to Shawano on Thursday.
The last time these two teams squared off, Shawano pulled out a 6-4 win on December 9th.
The puck will drop at the Crawford Center at 7:00 tomorrow night.
