It may not have been a win, but it was a sign of the potential the Manitowoc United JV hockey team has.
They mounted a four-goal comeback in the third period to earn a 4-4 tie in Milwaukee.
WNS had a three-goal lead entering the final period and added a powerplay goal just over two minutes in, but then freshman Benson Dickrell took over.
He scored a pair of goals just 30 seconds apart with assists from Reed Neuser and Aragon Jack.
Two and a half minutes later, Ethan Christiansen tallied an unassisted goal to bring United to within one.
Then, with 6 minutes on the clock, Dickrell knotted it up at 4 with assists from Jack and Landon Nienow.
Daniel Karlin was once again stellar between the pipes, blocking 35 shots, and as Coach Mark Hinz pointed out, “jumping on rebounds” to kill any second attempts.
Manitowoc United will look to build on this momentum next Tuesday as they play host to Waupaca.
The puck will drop at the Manitowoc County Ice Center at 6:45 p.m.
