The deadline to return paperwork for the upcoming City Council elections has passed, and numerous people have thrown their hats in the ring in Manitowoc and Two Rivers.
Starting with the Clipper City, District 2 Alderman Chad Beeman and District 10 Alderman Todd Reckelberg will be running unopposed, but the rest of the seats have contention.
Bret Vanderkin in District 1 is being challenged by Raymond Geigel, while the District 7 seat, currently being held by Tim Bolt, is being sought after by Brian Anderson.
There is a lot of interest in Michael Cummings’ District 3 seat, as he will be challenged by Angela Myers, Nathan Mahloch, and Jason C. Johnston. The Primary will be held in February ahead of the April election.
Just up the road in Two Rivers, a primary is not necessary as each seat has a single challenger.
Incumbents Adam Wachowski, Darla LeClair, and Bonnie Shimulunas all announced their intent to retain their seats, and will be challenged by Dean LaRose, Ron Abney, and Shannon Derby.
As a reminder, the Two Rivers City Council seats are all at large, meaning they all represent the entire city as opposed to specific districts as they do in Manitowoc.
