Fentanyl deaths were up 22-percent in 2021 across this country and that drug is now the leading cause of death for Americans between the ages of 18 and 45.
Lieutenant Dave Remiker, head of the Manitowoc County Drug Unit, said fentanyl is the biggest issue in the community right now.
He also noted that the County Drug Unit “did see that significant increase in fentanyl once that (southern) border was opened up.”
Lieutenant Remiker added fentanyl overdose deaths are occurring here in Manitowoc County after frequently being mixed with other drugs.
