After seeing their postseason hopes hanging by a thread a month ago, the Green Bay Packers are on the cusp of earning a playoff berth. The Packers 41-17 dismantling (rout) of the Minnesota Vikings Sunday at Lambeau Field gave Green Bay its 4th consecutive victory and a chance to clinch a wildcard spot with a win over the Lions at home next weekend. The improbable chain of events in recent weeks was capped off by Cleveland’s 24-10 victory over the Washington Commanders.
Keisean Nixon starting the scoring for the Packers on a 105 yard kickoff return for an early 7-3 lead and they never looked back. Darnell Savage, who was benched recently, returned an interception for a touchdown to grab control against the NFC North champions. Veteran Mason Crosby closed the first-half scoring with a ‘56’ yard fieldgoal!
The NFL has determined that the Packers, now 8-and-8, will host Detroit on Sunday, with kickoff time to be announced during or immediately after Monday Night Football in Cincinnati.
