Governor Tony Evers and the Department of Transportation have announced that 44 agencies that provide transportation services for seniors and individuals with disabilities in rural areas of Wisconsin will benefit from more than $5 million in state and federal funds in 2023.
Three such organizations are in the lakeshore area. Manitowoc County will be getting over $66,000 for mobility management and an additional $130,000 for a large bus.
The New Hope Center, which helps those with disabilities in Manitowoc and Calumet Counties, is slated to get over $100,000, $41,000 for mobility management, and $59,000 for operating assistance.
Lastly, Sheboygan County will be getting nearly $30,000 for a volunteer drive.
Governor Evers said in the announcement that “These grants will strengthen Wisconsin’s network of support, and we are grateful for the additional boost provided by the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.”
