While Wisconsin is officially known as “America’s Dairyland”, Alice in Dairyland Taylor Schaefer likes to refer to us as “America’s Butter-land”.
During an appearance on the WCUB Breakfast Club recently, Schaefer noted that Wisconsin is home to 13 butter processing plants, which pump out enough butter to make us a top two butter producer in the country.
“They say that Americans consume on average six and a half pounds of butter every single year. I personally think that I raise that average just a little bit between cooking and baking, especially during the holiday season,” she joked. “Butter pairs with everything so well, especially around this time of year.”
While most people go to the store and pick up either salted or unsalted butter, Schaefer told us there are some other options as well.
“We actually have so many different kinds of butter that you can utilize for different uses, especially when it comes to cooking,” she explained.
Schaefer told host Craig Dillon that she has used social media to share numerous different recipes and ideas for using butter.
