With some major snowfall expected throughout the end of the week, residents are being reminded about residential parking bans to allow for snowplows to clear the streets.
In the City of Manitowoc, Mayor Justin Nickels told us there are two types of parking bans.
“There is a Winter Parking Ban. That’s for the main roads, we always say bus routes,” he explained. “Then there are the big ones, like we might be expecting Thursday, Friday Saturday. It would be a Snow Emergency, where every road, you cannot park on the street overnight.”
Snow emergencies will be announced on 107.9 FM WOMT and 97.1 FM WCUB, but also on the City’s Facebook page.
You can also sign up to receive text or email alerts from the city by visiting Manitowoc.org, and clicking the Notify Me button.
Similar bans are put in place in Two Rivers. City Manager Greg Buckley said it is very important to abide by these rules because, “We want to make if we get a big snow, that snow can be cleaned up as efficiently and as safely as possible. That will mean get the cars off the streets.”
That announcement will also be made on the radio, on the City’s Facebook page, and at Two-Rivers.org. To see a list of closings and cancelations visit SeehaferNews.com.
