The Salvation Army in Manitowoc has been a little behind in their Red Kettle collections this year, but they are now getting a significant amount of help.
Over the weekend, there were a couple of matching donation challenges, including a triple match at Festival Foods.
Lieutenant Jenny Moffit tells us, there is an even bigger one going on now.
She told us that an anonymous donor “has given $100,000 as a challenge for this community for the last two weeks of December.”
Meaning, every dollar you give through the end of the year will be doubled, up to $100,000.
This includes all donations made at the kettles around town, or that are dropped off at the Salvation Army headquarters on North 6th Street.
She called it an “amazing opportunity to reach our fundraising goal for the end of the year.”
As of last Friday, the Manitowoc Salvation Army and the bell ringers had collected about $85,000, which is $90,000 short of their overall goal.
However, LT. Moffit believes that this $100,000 challenge will push them over their goal.
Additionally, donations can be made to their online kettle at https://bit.ly/2022ManitowocVirtualRedKettle or by scanning the QR Code seen below.
