’Tis the season to travel, and AAA estimates 2.2 million Wisconsinites will journey 50 miles or more away from home from December 23rd to January 2nd.
This projection is up from last year’s numbers, but is still down from the pre-pandemic level.
In 2019, just over 2.4 million Wisconsinites traveled either by car or by air during the holiday season, which is 6.14% more than what is figured for this year.
A vast majority of this year’s travelers are expected to do so by automobile, just over 2 million to be more precise.
Nearly 127,000 people will travel by air, and 73,500 will be using other modes of transportation.
