For the first time at least in the last several decades, the City of Sheboygan did not have any burglaries reported last month.
Burglary was a big issue in Sheboygan for quite some time.
In the early 2000s, there were more than 200 reported each year, but occasionally that number would reach as high as 500.
The downward trend really began in 2007, when there were 460 reported.
Since that year, the number of yearly burglaries in Sheboygan has been slowly declining, with this year’s total so far at 64.
A big reason for this decline has reportedly been an increase in the number of citizens who lock their cars, and keep valuables out of sight.
