The husband of a Manitowoc County Dispatcher is asking for the public to help someone who has served her community for years.
Zachery Benzinger reached out to Seehafer News to tell the story of his wife Steph.
This past Saturday, Steph was working a 12-hour shift, when her leg went completely numb.
She was rushed to the emergency room, where they determined she had a massive blood clot in her leg.
She was immediately airlifted to Froedtert in Milwaukee for emergency surgery. The surgery lasted 9 and a half hours, and she remains in Milwaukee.
According to Zac, Steph will need a home care nurse to help with her recovery, which insurance will not cover.
On a GoFundMe page he created, he pleads for help, saying “I really don’t know how we’re gonna pull through this financially. We’re not really ones to ask for help but at this point, I’m completely out of options.”
He told us his wife is the consummate public servant.
“She absolutely loves serving Manitowoc County and providing aid to everyone in need,” he said.
Even after this traumatic event, Zac said, Steph is “looking forward to returning to work once she recovers from this almost tragic situation.”
