The Manitowoc Public School District has approved the new position of Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.
Board of Education President Stacey Soeldner tells Seehafer News about the approved hiring of Jame McCall from Traverse City, Michigan, adding that McCall has worked with now full-time superintendent James Feil before.
“Like in any government situation, he needs his cabinet,” Soeldner explained. “He needs his people that are going to be able to move forward, so she is going to come out of retirement and has tons of experience to be able to do this job.”
Soelder said that a lot of people are feeling the Board is being disrespectful to the administration they already have.
She did say she can see where they would feel that way, “But, the board purposely wanted people that had long-term experience, kind of the old guard, or those who had demonstrated throughout their career that they have been able to take a school district to another level.”
She believes that Feil and McCall are “going to be able to work so well together and pull off what nobody thinks we’re going to be able to do.”
