As many people gather this week for Thanksgiving celebrations with family and friends, the American Red Cross urges donors to shake up their holiday traditions and set aside time to give blood or platelets in the coming weeks.
According to Laura McGuire, Regional Communications Manager for the American Red Cross-Wisconsin Region, those donations tend to fall more than 20% during the holiday period, including the days around Thanksgiving.
One of the upcoming blood donation opportunities will be one week from today Wednesday, November 30th at the Manitowoc Senior Center. Eligible blood donors can give from noon until 4 pm at 3330 Custer Street.
To book a time to donate blood or platelets go to RedCrossBlood.org. Meanwhile, as a thank you, all who come to donate starting today through Sunday will receive an exclusive Red Cross beanie.
