A Manitowoc woman has been arrested for her second retail theft in three months.
Officers were called to the Manitowoc Meijer store after workers caught the 40-year-old woman attempting to leave without paying for merchandise.
The woman was caught scanning four items at a self-checkout and failing to scan 22 other items worth nearly $62.
When police searched her purse, the woman was found to be in possession of a syringe, some jewelry, two signed blank checks, and a $4,800 check made out to her.
She claimed the jewelry was a gift from her boyfriend, and that she was having trouble cashing the $4,800 check.
The woman was previously arrested for retail theft in August and is again being charged with Misdemeanor Retail Theft along with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Felony Bail Jumping.
