A federal judge has denied a request by Walmart for a new trial in a case stemming from the Manitowoc location in 2015.
In July of that year, Marlo Spaeth, who is diagnosed with Down Syndrome, was fired by the Manitowoc Walmart after working there for 16 years.
A judge had ruled in favor of the Spaeth family in July of 2021, ordering Walmart to pay Marlo damages.
The retail giant had filed a request for a new trial, but last week Monday, a federal judge stood by that initial ruling.
Despite being ordered to pay, Marlo’s family reports that she “still hasn’t seen a penny” according to a CNBC report.
