The Manitowoc Police Department has announced that two adults have been arrested in connection with the recent death of a young child.
Captain Peter McGinty said in a news release that an investigation of the October 6th death of the 3-year-old resulted in the apprehension of the child’s biological mother and an adult male living in the household.
Captain McGinty identified the suspects taken into custody yesterday as 34-year-old Catherine D. Carter and 38-year-old Lavell L. Nance.
Both face charges for Possession of the drug MDMA with Intent to Deliver and Keeper of a drug House.
Carter is also being charged with Child Neglect-Drug Abuse related.
The Manitowoc Police Department became aware of the situation last month when they received a complaint from a local healthcare facility and officials have been investigating the cause of death ever since.
Police say an investigation into the child’s death is ongoing with further consultation with medical experts.
A Probable Cause Affidavit for the charges is expected to be released later today.
