
Manitowoc County leaned to the right in every single race on the ballot yesterday.
In the most highly publicized race, the battle for U.S. Senate, Incumbent Republican Ron Johnson earned just over 21,500 votes, compared to Mandela Barnes’ nearly 13,300.
In the gubernatorial race, Tim Michels won in Manitowoc County with 21,546 votes compared to Tony Evers’ 13,935, however, Evers has been declared the winner in the state.
The same trend was found in the races for Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, the District 1 Senate seat, and both contested Assembly races.
This bled into the County races as well, with Republican April R. Higgins defeating incumbent Lynn Zigmunt to win the County Clerk race.
According to County Clerk Jessica Backus, 56% of eligible voters came out to vote locally.
The County Board of Canvass meets on Friday, November 11th to verify the results.
Meanwhile in Sheboygan County, voter turnout was reported to be at 76%.
