As we get ever closer to the midterm election next week, Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickles is encouraging people to vote early.
During an appearance on the WCUB Breakfast Club, he said that City Hall has adjusted their hours to ensure everyone has a chance to cast their ballot.
“The remainder of this week, City Hall will be open 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.,” the mayor explained. “Then on Saturday and Sunday, City Hall will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.”
He did say that voting is not allowed on Monday, so if you planned to participate in the early voting option, you must do so by 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
There are lots of races on the ballot at the national, state, and local levels.
We are all aware of the gubernatorial, attorney general, and senate races, but other state races include for control of the State Senate seat in District 1.
Incumbent Andre Jacque is squaring off against Andrea Gage-Michaels for that seat, while in the Assembly, Incumbent Shae Sortwell is being challenged by Rene Gasch for the District 2 seat.
There is only one contested county race, and that is for Clerk of Court. Incumbent Lynn Zigmunt is being challenged by April R. Higgins.
Also of note are referendums in the towns of Gibson, Kossuth, and Schleswig, and School District referendums in Denmark, Howards Grove, and Two Rivers.
