A 49-year-old Green Bay man is facing charges after he allegedly forged checks from his parents and broke into their home.
An officer was sent to a home on Desnoyers Street at around 4:30 p.m. on October 22nd on a report of a theft.
The man and woman told the officer that an estimated $1,300 was taken after their son, Scott Gerrits, took some checks and cashed them.
The victims said that they never gave Gerrits permission to enter their home or to take the six blank checks, on which he allegedly forged their signatures.
When confronted by police, Gerrits admitted to taking the checks because he needed money.
He has been charged with five counts of Uttering a Forgery, and Burglary of a Building or Dwelling, each with an enhancer of being against an elder victim.
Gerrits’ bail was set at $5,000 cash, and he will be back in court on November 17th.
