A Manitowoc man has been arrested after allegedly stealing over $20,000 in cash from a residence.
Officers were called to a home on South 26th Street at 12:45 Sunday afternoon (October 20th) after the homeowner reported the theft.
The woman told police she had come home from a shopping trip on Friday morning and found her 41-year-old neighbor in her bathroom.
She explained that her bathroom window was left open, which she normally does not do, and that she believes the man entered through that window.
The next day, she realized she was missing $20,000 in cash, and a large number of collector coins, which is when she called the police.
A search warrant was issued for the man’s residence on Monday, when the coins and $675 in cash were located.
The suspect admitted to looking into the victim’s window but denied ever entering.
He was arrested on charges of Burglary to a Building or Dwelling and Criminal Trespass to a Dwelling.
The suspect was previously convicted on a charge of Criminal Trespass to a Dwelling in Fond du Lac County and Theft of Movable Property in Winnebago County.
