The leader of the Manitowoc Salvation Army said recently that the need for winter coats is high.
Jenny Moffit appeared this month on “The Coolest Coast” radio program on 107.9 FM WOMT.
Moffit explains the “need in this community is great, but this community is great.”
“I think with the economy being what it is…a lot of the government programs that have been operating during the COVID times have kind of tailed off,” she explained. “A lot of folks are finding themselves in a bit of a pickle, not knowing how they are going to make ends meet. We can help be that gap filler for them.”
Moffit went on to say there were record numbers of pre-registration this year.
“We give out coats to kids from newborns all the way to high school seniors,” she said. “In addition for those in need, we did have our last sign up for preregistration, so anyone who is still in need of winter coats should call us after Saturday.”
Their office location is 415 North 6th Street and the phone number is 920-684-7117.
Jenny Moffit issued special praise to the local Elks Lodge for their generosity to the Food Pantry and, a $2,000.00 donation towards the purchase of winter coats, hats, and gloves to fill in those missing sizes.
She said they’re already planning their Toys For Tots Drive in December.
