Darrell Brooks Jr. will spend the rest of his life in prison. A jury yesterday convicted him of the attack at Waukesha’s Christmas Parade last November.
The jury found him guilty on all 76 counts, including six counts of first-degree homicide.
It took the jury about two-and-a-half hours yesterday to reach their verdict.
Brooks is due back in court next week to begin the sentencing phase of the trial. He is guaranteed a life sentence.
There’s a lot of talk about justice and about the victims of the Waukesha Christmas Parade attack following that verdict.
State and local leaders all said it is important for Waukesha to move forward.
Governor Tony Evers said he won’t forget the lives that were lost in the attack.
His opponent, Tim Michels, said the verdict is important for justice.
Waukesha Mayor Shawn Reilly said the verdict will help the community take the next steps forward and continue the healing process.
