The votes are in, and we now know what product has been named the 2023 Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin.
Pierce Manufacturing in Appleton is receiving the honor for their Electric Fire Truck.
The fire engine, known as the Pierce Volterra, is the first zero-emission electric fire truck, in service, in North America.
The Volterra pumper was developed to provide the environmental benefits fire departments requested such as reducing emissions, minimizing fuel, and producing less noise.
The truck beat out hundreds of other entrants to make the top 16, before beating out a tractor, a UTV, and a molecular testing machine to take home the crown.
This is the fifth time in the contest’s 7 year history that a company in Eastern Wisconsin received the honor, with the Big Blue Crane made in Manitowoc getting the nod last year.
