A Dane County Sheriff’s deputy is injured after entering a burning home.
Crews were called to a residence in Mazomanie early Saturday for a reported chimney fire.
When deputies arrived, they say the homeowner rushed back into the burning house to retrieve some valuables and that a deputy went in after him.
Officials say both the deputy and the homeowner were taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The home is considered a total loss, and the Red Cross will be assisting the displaced homeowner.
