Three men were recently sentenced in U.S. Federal Court on an Identical charge of Conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
Baltazar Segura-Lopez was sentenced to 8 years in federal prison to be followed by 4 years of supervised release, Alejandro Brantley was sentenced to 6 years in federal prison to be followed by 7 years of supervised release and Charles Zitzer will spend 5 years in federal prison to be followed by seven years of supervised release.
Manitowoc County Sherriff Dan Hartwig says that investigators from The Manitowoc County Metro Drug Unit and Drug Enforcement Administration conducted controlled purchases, surveillance, and interviews revealing that all three subjects were responsible for significant meth distribution.
During sentencing, U.S. District Judge William Griesbach stated that methamphetamine addiction is an epidemic in Manitowoc County and statewide adding that the use and distribution of meth are destroying families and communities and making Mexican drug cartels rich.
Sheriff Hartwig commends Federal authorities and the court system for their working relationship and efforts to combat local drug issues.
