A home in Green Bay caught fire over the weekend.
According to the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, crews were dispatched to a home in the 400 block of 5th Street just after 8:00 Sunday morning.
When they arrived, firefighters noted smoke and flames visible on the exterior of the home and were able to extinguish the blaze within 6 minutes of arriving.
The fire caused an estimated $10,000 in damage and is being blamed on the improper disposal of smoking materials.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department is advising people to make sure they dispose of cigarettes and cigars in a deep, sturdy ashtray, and to not toss them into any vegetation or landscaping.
Also, before disposing of the butts, be sure they are completely out by dousing them in water or sand.
