Sheboygan County Administrator Adam Payne has announced that he is stepping down early next year.
Payne has taken a position with the Wisconsin Counties Association, which means he will be done leading Sheboygan in March of next year.
Payne has been a part of the Sheboygan County government for the past 24 years.
This move has been years in the making, as he revealed that he was actually thinking about it as far back as 2020.
Then the pandemic hit, and he wanted to stay and help Sheboygan County push through it.
Now that the pandemic is over, he said the time is right.
Payne will continue to live in the Town of Plymouth even after he starts his new role in the statewide organization.
