There are shockingly few mental health resources in Manitowoc County, but as of last month, there is one more.
Summit Clinical Services officially opened its doors on September 15th.
Summit is located at 820 Washington Street, directly across from the Courthouse.
We spoke with Becky Richards, the Owner and as of right now singular clinician at Summit about what exactly it is, she does.
“Summit is an opportunity for people to access one on one psychotherapy services,” she explained. “I am dually licensed to treat mental health and substance abuse disorders.”
Richards also has a certification in dialectical behavior therapy which is a type of talk therapy specially adapted for people who experience emotions very intensely.
Richards said she started Summit as a way to “make things just a little bit easier for people…There’s barriers to accessing services. Not all barriers are bad, but they don’t always work for everybody, and not everybody has the capacity to work through those things.”
Richards also told us that because her operation is so small, she has the opportunity to be more flexible than some other operations may be.
If you would like to set up an appointment, you can either call 920-645-3743, or message Richards on the Summit Clinical Services Facebook page.
