An automotive teacher at Kaukauna High School has been honored for his hard work, and focus on students.
Dan Van Boxtel was honored by Harbor Freight with their 2022 Tools for School Prize for Teaching Excellence award yesterday morning.
The award comes with a $50,000 check, with $35,000 going to the school district to aid skilled trades education, and the remaining $15,000 going to Van Boxtel.
800 teachers submitted applications for the award, and 20 were named winners.
Van Boxtel has been teaching in Kaukauna for over 40 years and says that he has focused on helping his students not only find a career in the automotive industry but also help them cultivate a love for the industry.
As for what he plans on doing with his winnings, Van Boxtel says he plans on taking his wife on a vacation.
