Happy Fall!
Doesn’t it feel like every year autumn seems to roll around quicker? But since it is my favorite time of year, I am grateful to see the arrival of these days of comfy sweaters, amazingly colored trees, and a sort of slow-down to our days. We have fall decorating to look forward to, including Halloween and Thanksgiving, and then we roll into the wintry tradition of Christmas in no time!
Once again, MPL will be lucky enough to have the beauty of Manitowoc Aluminum Kitsch-Mas Inc.’s Enchanted Evergleam trees and their accompanying vintage furniture and other collectible pieces to look forward to. They are just more beautiful every year! Manitowoc Public Library staff and everyone who walks through our doors are so very fortunate to take in this amazing display through the hard work and generosity of those who share it with us!
Did you have a “tinsel tree” at your house? This display always brings about fond memories of the holiday season. And of course, when you think Christmas, you naturally think of something to put under your tree.
Heading into the Holiday Season, Manitowoc Public Library once again is offering an opportunity to find a little something special for yourself or a family member or friend. Beginning on Wednesday, October 5, we will have a selection of 100s of great book for sale during our Coffee Table Book Sale!

In addition to books in great condition—for the low price of $4 each or two for $7—we will be offering gently used jigsaw puzzles, kindly donated to the Library, for sale at the same price as our Coffee Table Books.
The sale is cash and carry—no credit or debit cards—kicking off on Wednesday, October 5, and running for approximately three weeks.
Along with novels in excellent condition, we will feature books on hobbies, sports, history, collectibles, and books that should be taken home just because of their beautiful spines or pages to display.
In just one small area of our shelving, I found an Atlas of the World, Skyscrapers, Birds,
Bob Dylan lyrics, Elvis, Sinatra, Grandma’s Favorite Recipes, Wooden Horse Patterns, Stamp Collecting, ESPN and Packer titles, and way too many more to mention.
We have a good number of old collectible books, some book sets, and interesting, unique items that are buried among all of these books at the moment. Check back with us during the sale. With the books being so large and the amazing number of them we have for this sale, we can’t possibly have all of them on display at one time.
My family has benefitted from this sale. My husband and son, mom, nieces and a few other folks have received things I found and thought they’d really enjoy. And I am always happy if they turn around and share those books with someone else again. Books are meant to be shared and sales like these are a fine way to do that!
As always, I like to remind everyone that the money raised from these sales go to the Friends of Manitowoc Public Library, who in turn sponsor many of our programs and events. Without the funds they take in during these sales, our community would surely miss out on some of the things MPL is able to provide, such as Early Literacy Programs, craft programs, the Winter Read-a-Thon, and Book Discussions, to name a few.
Remember—the Coffee Table Book Sale begins Wednesday, October 5, and runs about 3 weeks. CASH or Local Check ONLY! No debit or credit cards.
We hope to see you here!
We treasure our Library, and besides being a patron, when you shop at these book sales you are putting money back into our system to support things that are close to our hearts and important to our future!
So, thank you.
