Hundreds gathered over the weekend for Windigo Fest at the Manitowoc County Expo Grounds, but it all started off on a down note.
As everything was getting set up Friday evening, a woman collapsed.
A bartender who was close by jumped into action and began chest compressions until police and ambulance arrived.
She was later pronounced dead.
A post on the Windigo Paranormal Facebook page identified the woman as Kristin Koch. The poster, named Heather Ghostgirl, praised Kristin as being a “ hospice nurse by day, and Paranormal Investigator by night.”
She went on to say that Kristin “brought the fun to our investigations and fun paranormal away trips.”
Despite the sour beginning to the weekend, the festivities continued, and organizers stated that they had “more people than they expected” show up.
