The two Appleton Police Officers involved in the shooting of a man with a handgun back in August have been cleared of any wrongdoing.
Officers Bryce Rudebeck and Tony Shuman were among the law enforcement agents on the scene in the 1500 block of North Birchwood Avenue on August 12th.
They were called after a woman had barricaded herself in a room with her baby and heard a gunshot.
When officers arrived, they found Daniel Pesavento pacing in the driveway with a handgun.
A civilian video received by Seehafer News shows that Pesavento had pointed the gun at himself multiple times, but never at police before being shot five times by Officers Rudebeck and Shuman.
Outagamie County District Attorney Melinda Tempelis, who investigated the shooting, issued a statement where she said, “This type of incident is one of the most dangerous and unpredictable calls that a police officer responds to, a person who is in a mental health crisis, who has a firearm and has demonstrated that they are willing to use it.”
The officers involved are being returned to duty immediately.
