It was a tense situation yesterday afternoon in Oshkosh as SWAT was called to a standoff with a man in a vehicle.
Officers had pulled a vehicle over in the 500 block of County Road Y at around 1:00 p.m., and the driver immediately exited the vehicle at the police’s orders, but the 39-year-old male passenger, who was believed to be armed, was not as cooperative.
The area was blocked off as the Oshkosh SWAT and crisis negotiation teams were called.
After three and a half hours of negotiation, the man did surrender peacefully.
The identity of the man has not yet been released, but the Oshkosh Police Department has charged him with being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia, Obstructing/Resisting, and Felony Bail Jumping.
