The Green Bay Packers picked up a 14-12 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers yesterday in what turned out to be a defensive slugfest.
The Packers’ offense scored touchdowns on their first two drives but stalled after an Aaron Jones fumble on the goal line.
The defense made Tom Brady and his offense look mortal, holding them to a pair of field goals until the final minute.
They gave up a touchdown with only 18 seconds left, but a delay of game on the two-point conversion attempt followed by a De’Vondre Campbell batted ball secured the win.
The Packers’ offense accumulated 315 yards, much of which came through the air.
Rookie Romeo Doubs had a good game, leading the aerial attack with 8 receptions for 73 yards.
Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon were held in check, only rushing for a combined 68 yards.
On the other side, Tom Brady threw for 271 yards and received protection from a Manitowoc County native.
Luke Goedeke, a Valders graduate, got his second professional start at left guard protecting the future Hall of Famer.
Up next for the Packers is a home game against the New England Patriots.
That game will kick off at 3:25 p.m. this Sunday.
