As we reported on Tuesday, the Manitowoc and Two Rivers Tourism Departments are working together to create a tourism guide for the area.
This is something that makes the leaders of both communities quite happy.
Two Rivers City Manager Greg Buckley told Seehafer News that working together is more beneficial than working independently.
“Both of the communities add a lot to the mix that a tourist is able to enjoy,” Buckley said. “Even though there have been some changes over the past years, it just makes sense to partner on this and other tourism activities.”
Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickles echoed that sentiment, explaining that to an outsider, we are essentially one city anyway.
“When we promote tourism, the tourist doesn’t care about city lines,” he explained. “We can’t try to sell one area without trying to promote the overall larger goal of getting people here.”
Nickels also said that working together was always the plan.
“When we, unfortunately, went our separate ways from the MAVCB (Manitowoc Area Visitor and Convention Bureau) we didn’t want to stop working with the City of Two Rivers,” Nickels said. “It was just how the organization was and we had to move forward in different ways. Two Rivers has always said that too.”
The 2023 Tourism Guide will be interactive in it’s online form, and will also be distributed to places around the area and around the state.
