“It’s political” — that’s Governor Tony Evers’ response to criticism of his record on crime by his Republican opponent Tim Michels.
Evers says crime is a legitimate campaign issue, but he suggests the recent rise in crime can be blamed on the pandemic.
He says people “get kind of stir crazy,” and as a result, we’ve seen “lots of bad behavior.”
Evers was in Mosinee on Tuesday to announce another $32 million in grants for emergency service providers.
His administration has also provided $19 million from the American Rescue Plan for local police departments.
