Manitowoc interim Superintendent Jim Feil said the new school year is off to a great start with high expectations.
Feil tells Seehafer News they’ve instituted a new Code of Conduct in the district after realizing the previous one had been set aside.
“We just sent out the code of conduct for parents and students to sign off on that they recognize this is how we really work well together,” Feil explained. “And so we want to make sure they’re aware of this and signing off on this. It’s just really good.”
Teachers, administrators, and parents in the community had volunteered their time over the past 5-to-6 months and met on a weekly basis to examine guiding principles here.
Feil said among other things, in particular academics, that he sees the MPSD as being a model for other schools to look at in the future.
He said, “This is just one of many things I think Manitowoc is really interested in, in terms of elevating the game and demonstrating what we can do when we come together.”
Feil said watching and hearing about the group of volunteers crafting the new Code of Conduct was one of the areas that got him excited when he accepted the position.
He added, “It’s really pretty powerful.”
