September is Suicide Prevention Month and is a time when we all should remember those affected by suicide and try to stem the tide.
Kayla Reindl, a Public Health Nurse with the Manitowoc County Health Department reported to us some troubling statistics surrounding suicide.
She asked, “Did you know that recent data shows that suicide is the second leading cause of death in people ages 10 to 14 and ages 25 to 34?”
Meaning even if you do not know someone who died by suicide, chances are you know someone who does.
She went on to say that “Suicide and suicide attempts affect the health and wellbeing of friends, loved ones, coworkers, and the community.”
Earlier this year, a three-digit phone number was introduced to help people get easier access to help.
If you or someone you know is in need of help, you can call or text 988 for immediate help.
You will be matched with someone in Wisconsin who is more than willing to help.
