The City of Green Bay is looking over a proposal that would allow service industry workers to park for free in the downtown area.
The Improvement and Services Committee met earlier this week, where local business owner David Bartikofsky brought forth the idea.
Under his plan, anyone making $15 or less an hour would not have to pay to park, which would save these workers an estimated $80 worth of parking fees every month.
The idea is that without that added expense, job vacancies may fill up sooner.
Before the proposal would go before the full City Council, a study will be done to figure out the plausibility of enacting such a change.
