A church in Whitelaw will be celebrating a major milestone later this month.
St. Michael’s Parish, located at 110 West Menasha Avenue was founded in October of 1872 after Thomas Zipperer donated the three acres of land where the church rests.
In 1881, a one-room school was built on the site, and the teachers included the Salvatorian Sisters of St. Nazianz and the Sisters of the order of St. Francis.
In celebration of 150 years, the congregation is inviting the public out to celebrate with them.
Starting at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 24th, there will be a bounce house for the kids, as well as arts and crafts and a coloring contest.
Cornhole boards will also be set up, bingo will be played, as well as a scavenger hunt.
At 4:00 p.m. a special recognition mass will be held, which will be followed by a potluck supper.
Those planning to attend are being asked to bring a dish to share.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of religious affiliation.
