Three Coast Guard Stations along the Lake Michigan Shoreline are slated to get some federal funds for rebuilding projects.
According to information received from the Office of Senator Tammy Baldwin, the Coast Guard Stations in Sheboygan, Sturgeon Bay, and Kenosha will all receive $40 million through the Bipartisan Coast Guard Authorization Act.
This money is to be used for the rebuilding of the stations after high water levels over the last three years caused significant damage and compromised the facilities.
Specifically, at the Sheboygan station, the high level of Lake Michigan resulted in elevated levels in the Sheboygan River, which spilled over into the Coast Guard Station and other buildings along the river.
