A Green Bay Man is facing charges after he allegedly broke into a local pub and a church and stole cash.
Green Bay Police were called to BC’s Saloon at around 5:30 p.m. on September 1st on a report of a man attempting to break into the rear door earlier that morning.
The suspect, later identified as 42-year-old Michael Zelnik, rummaged around the bar, and took a total of $86 dollars before leaving.
Then, at 5:30 p.m., video footage at St. Francis Xavier Church captured Zelnik walking around the church trying to get into donation boxes.
He was quickly apprehended.
Zelnik reportedly told officers he took the money to pay off child support but had actually gambled it all away.
He has been charged with two counts of Burglary of a Building or Dwelling and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and is scheduled to have his preliminary hearing today.
If convicted, Zelnik could spend over 25 years in prison.
